Mercury Platform Releases Single-Click Catastrophe Claim Classification for Faster CAT Event Response

Quick Silver Systems, Inc. released single-click catastrophe (CAT) claim classification in the Mercury Policy and Claims Administration System, giving claims operations teams a fast way to tag inbound claims to a declared CAT event as they are reported.

When a storm, wildfire, or named event is declared, Mercury lets supervisors define the CAT code, affected geography, and effective dates once. From that point, eligible claims can be classified to the event in a single action — either individually from the claim screen or in bulk from the claims queue. Each classification is recorded with the user, timestamp, and event context for audit and reinsurance purposes.

The capability builds on Mercury's existing claims workflow and reporting. CAT-coded claims automatically flow into operational dashboards, loss reports, and the data feeds used for catastrophe and reinsurance reporting, without a second set of manual tagging steps.

"CAT events test the whole claims operation," said Sean Pitcher, CEO of Quick Silver Systems. "If you can't classify claims to the event cleanly in the first 48 hours, everything downstream gets harder. Single-click CAT classification is about getting that right from the first FNOL."
