Open API Distribution

The carrier that controls the API controls the distribution relationship.

Embedded insurance -- coverage woven into the purchase journey of another product or service -- depends entirely on the ability to quote, bind, and issue a policy in milliseconds via a clean API call. Carriers without that capability are simply invisible to this growing channel.

MGAs have been early adopters, using API-first architecture to connect specialty products to digital distribution platforms without the friction of traditional wholesale channels.

The standards conversation is maturing too. ACORD and industry working groups are pushing toward normalized data schemas that reduce the custom integration burden every new partnership currently requires.
