The insurtech hype cycle is behind us -- now comes the harder work of making partnerships actually perform.

The 2018-2022 era generated hundreds of carrier-insurtech pilot agreements, many of which consumed significant project management resources without reaching production at meaningful scale. The current environment is more selective: carriers are evaluating vendors on production references, integration depth, and total cost of ownership rather than demo aesthetics.

Insurtech vendors that have survived the funding environment of 2023 and 2024 have generally done so by delivering measurable value -- lower loss ratios, reduced processing costs, faster claims cycle times -- rather than narrative alone.

The most successful partnerships tend to solve a specific, well-defined operational problem rather than attempting to transform everything at once.
