Cyber Underwriting Maturity

Cyber insurance was once described as underwriting the unknown -- that description is becoming less accurate every year.

The accumulation of loss data, the development of standardized policy language, and the adoption of security control assessments have given underwriters far more to work with than they had in the early 2020s. Pricing is stabilizing and coverage structures are becoming more predictable.

Sophisticated carriers are now segmenting cyber risk by industry sector, company size, security posture score, and incident response capability. That granularity enables better risk selection rather than blanket rate increases.

The next frontier is systemic event modeling -- understanding how a single cloud provider outage or widespread software vulnerability can correlate losses across thousands of insureds simultaneously.
