2025 was not a quiet year for P&C insurance, and that is probably an understatement.
Catastrophe activity continued to stress property markets in coastal and wildfire-exposed territories. Rate adequacy conversations shifted from theoretical to urgent in several lines. And the technology transformation that everyone talked about for years started showing up in actual carrier results, not just conference presentations.
The organizations that navigated the year best shared a common trait: they did not wait for conditions to stabilize before making decisions. They moved with the information they had, created feedback loops quickly, and adjusted. That capacity for continuous adaptation under uncertainty is the defining capability of a resilient insurer.
Heading into 2026, the question is not whether disruption will continue. It will. The question is whether your organization is structurally designed to respond faster than it did last year.
Happy New Year to the entire P&C community. Thank you for the conversations, the challenges, and the relentless pursuit of a better-functioning industry. Here is to 2026.
