Happy New Year. Let us start 2026 with a counterintuitive claim: this industry is in a stronger position than the narrative suggests.

Technology adoption that spent a decade in pilot mode has reached deployment scale. Carriers that modernized their core systems in 2022 through 2024 are now seeing the operational dividends. Parametric products that were experimental curiosities are covering real risks in real markets. Telematics data that was once too raw to underwrite confidently is now generating measurable loss ratio improvements.

None of this means the hard problems are solved. Catastrophe risk, talent gaps, and legacy debt are real. But progress is also real, and it compounds. The foundation being built right now is what the next generation of insurance professionals will build on.

This is a good industry doing important work. 2026 is a good year to be in it.
