Embedded insurance has crossed from buzzword to buying requirement in the span of two years.

Retailers, fintechs, and mobility platforms are demanding insurance products that attach seamlessly at point of sale. That means real-time rating, instant bind, and frictionless claims — none of which are native to policy admin systems built in the 2000s.

The product architecture challenge is real. Carriers accustomed to multi-day underwriting cycles can't serve embedded channels without rethinking how policies are structured, priced, and issued programmatically.

API-first policy administration is the prerequisite. Carriers that modernized their core systems are finding embedded opportunities accessible; those still running batch processes are being left out of partnership conversations entirely.
